Oil States Industries Commemorates 75th Anniversary

Oil States Industries announced today an assertive strategic vision in conjunction with the company’s 75th anniversary this year. Oil States is known as one of the most innovative independent companies in the oil and gas industry with a track record of success supporting customers in every major offshore basin and across key onshore, marine, and industrial applications.   Oil States currently has four primary business segments focused on Production Platform Solutions, Riser and Drilling Systems, Subsea Pipeline Systems, and Onshore/Marine/Industrial Solutions.

At 75 and as the market continues to recover, the company is positioned for significant growth.  It is transitioning to become a major global OEM and provider of systems for offshore drilling and construction that enable customers to overcome the most complex barriers to cost-effectively operating high-performance fields.

The company is translating its decades of experience supplying innovative and reliable components into a portfolio of technical solutions and complete, integrated systems that lower total cost of ownership for its customers.

“This anniversary is an opportunity to commemorate our truly remarkable history and the exciting journey we have ahead of us,” says Mike Hogan, Vice President Global Deepwater Projects at Oil States.  “Our unique position in the market today provides exactly the foundation we need to meet the industry’s needs for efficient systems to overcome difficult drilling, production, mooring, and lifting challenges.”

 An advantageous market position

Recent dynamics in the oil and gas markets have resulted in an increased focus on costs by operators and contractors, and many industry suppliers have consolidated.  In contrast, Oil States’ strategically remains a project focused specialist, flexibly working together from beginning to end with all major operators as well as engineering and installation contractors to provide competitive solutions to unique and complex challenges. Drawing upon a deep pool of technical talent and global infrastructure in all producing regions, Oil States has the resources to deliver crucial technology and execute projects reliably and efficiently.

A history of innovation

In 1942, “Slim” Bowerman founded Grand Prairie Rubber Company with just four employees. The company grew by making specialized parts for the burgeoning onshore oil and gas industry. It eventually expanded to offshore, industrial and military markets as a multi-national provider of technology and services – becoming the Oil States we know today.

As it reaches this important 75th anniversary milestone, Oil States recognizes and celebrates the many vital contributions of its customers, employees, suppliers, and all who have helped it build this strong foundation.
