Massive earthquakes struck Nepal and the surrounding region on April 25 and May 12, measuring respective 7.8 and 7.3 magnitudes. They resulted in more than 8,000 lives lost and more than 23,000 people injured. The quakes also destroyed homes and businesses as well as cultural and historical monuments that had stood for thousands of years – reduced now to rubble.

Oil States Singapore rallied in response to the Nepal tragedy.

The Environment, Health and Safety (HSE) department hosted a donation drive for the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund in an effort to assist the shaken nation following the massive earthquakes. This initiative was part of Oil States Asia’s corporate social responsibility program for 2015.

The HSE department opened a donation drive from April 26 – May 5 to assist the relief efforts, which include medical aid, food, water and sanitation supplies to help earthquake survivors. Throughout the drive, HSE staff continually encouraged employees to donate to the relief fund.

Oil States Singapore employees enthusiastically contributed a total of $2,165 for the initiative. Quality, Environment, Health and Safety (QEHS) Manager, Kamatchi “Neel” Neelakantan, and EHS Engineer, Meeran Rahamatulla, presented the donations to Singapore Red Cross Society Director of Services, Sahari Ani, on May 8.

Oil States Singapore expresses heartfelt thanks to all the employees who donated through this or other channels to help Nepal.
